Our family recently embarked on a delightful trip to Raleigh, North Carolina, where we discovered an array of attractions perfect for families just a stone's throw away from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
Marbles Kids Museum
Just 15 minutes from RDU, Marbles Kids Museum is a wonderland of hands-on exhibits and interactive displays. Our kids couldn't get enough of the water play area, the Rockin' Railroad, and the creative art studio.
William B. Umstead State Park
For a nature-filled escape, we headed to William B. Umstead State Park, a sprawling 5,579-acre park only 10 minutes from the airport. We hiked the scenic trails, spotted wildlife, and enjoyed a picnic by the lake.
Pullen Park
Pullen Park, located just 5 miles from RDU, is a charming urban oasis. Our family loved the antique carousel, miniature train, playground, and paddle boats. The splash pad provided a refreshing respite on a hot summer day.
North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences
A short 20-minute drive from the airport is the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, a world-renowned institution with captivating exhibits on natural history, wildlife, and dinosaurs. Our kids were fascinated by the live animal encounters and the stunning whale skeleton.

For some high-energy family fun, we visited Flight Trampoline Park, which is a mere 10 minutes from RDU. Our kids jumped, flipped, and tumbled to their hearts' content. The dodgeball court and foam pits added extra excitement.
